Postdoctoral Fellowship: Computational Biology of Small RNAs

The laboratory of Ramesh Pillai is seeking to recruit a Bioinformatician to participate in ongoing projects on small RNA-mediated gene silencing. Our group uses mouse genetics, biochemical and cell biology tools in these studies. Our data collection methods increasingly involve large-scale approaches, such as next-generation sequencing, microarrays and genomic data integration.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

We seek to strengthen this aspect of our studies by recruiting a postdoctoral fellow who will have the opportunity to actively interface with wet-lab members in our group. The candidate will also have access to bioinformatics facilities and expertise at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), Hinxton and Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP), Vienna.

Candidates should be proficient in at least one major programming language and comfortable with working in a Linux (command-line) environment. Experience with statistical data analysis using R is a plus. Strong motivation and excellent scientific skills are essential, as well as willingness to work in a multicultural & interdisciplinary environment.
