BACKGROUND
SAIC-Frederick, Inc, the operations and technical support contractor to the National Cancer Institute, has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Scientific Computing & Programming (Bioinformatics Manager) at our Core Genoytyping Facility (CGF) in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The CGF conducts genome-wide association and candidate gene studies, mapping of causal variants using next-generation sequencing technology, generating billions of high quality genotypes per year and copious amounts of DNA sequence from targeted resequencing.RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will lead the Bioinformatics and Analysis Group, who develop and maintain stable informatics pipelines for generation and analysis of dense genotyping and next-generation sequencing data. You will be responsible for the quality assessment of data generated by of Illumina, Affymetrix, and other high-throughput genotype assay platforms. Curation of multivariate epidemiological data for use in phenotype/genotype association testing. Collaborative analysis of GWAS and candidate gene studies for population characteristics, phenotype association, and risk modeling. Publication of bioinformatics software, methods, and data for the benefit of NCI investigators and the scientific community at large. Oversight of the LIMS manager and developer team. Development of standard pipelines for QC, final data set generation, and management of data deliveries in a reasonable timeframe to scientists. You will also guide direction of CGF's website strategy for web based bioinformatics tools on both internal and external websites.REQUIREMENTS
