This is to announce that a stable version of I, Librarian, a free application to build web-based library of scientific PDF articles is available for download.
I, Librarian is a feature-rich application that can be used to:
- Build either personal or shared (laboratory, departmental) PDF library
- Store up to a 100,000 fully annotated PDF files
- Batch upload all your existing PDF collection (works well with PubMed stored literature only)
- Perform diacritics-neutral searches for words and phrases in reference data
- Search for words in PDF full text
- Search and seamlessly import data from PubMed, PubMed Central, NASA ADS, arXiv, and HighWire Press
- Seamlessly record metadata from PubMed, NASA ADS, arXiv and CrossRef, if PDF contains a DOI or an arXiv ID
- Import references from various files, including Endnote, ISI Web of Science, and RIS files from more than a dozen supported web services (Science Direct, Scopus, JSTOR, IEEE Xplore, and more...)
- Store attached files, like supplementary data or full resolution figures
- Attach personal notes
- Access all stored data and PDF files through WWW
- Export records into RIS, Endnote, BibTex, CSV and plain text files
- Organize your PDFs into multiple categories
- Create multiple collaborative projects
- Create collaborative groups for a project and discuss your progress using the built-in chat
- And more
I, Librarian is a cross-platform application written in PHP, which requires a web server and PHP5 interpreter with built-in SQLite database. Windows installer containing all prerequisites is available.
