BACKGROUND
This is a corporate venture of the highest priority and significant financial backing. Our client is a globally recognized life sciences company and is committed to developing a break-through, Drug Discovery platform. This opportunity was posted approximately 3 months ago, however all hiring was delayed due to a major collaboration agreement (directly related to this venture). That collaboration is now set and the hiring of the leadership team is moving forward immediately.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serving as the lead informatics officer, the incumbent will directly contribute to the research and development of a paradigm shifting Drug Discovery Engine.
Day to day responsibilities will include:
- Building the appropriate informatics capabilities in coordination with Systems Biology leadership.
- Develop and coordinate the data package containing the appropriate reporting and analysis for pharmacological profiling of customers’ compounds
- Hire and manage a 1-3 member team with bioinformatics expertise
Qualifications (please, qualified applicants only):
- Ph. D. in Mathematics/Computer Science/Bioengineering/Molecular Biology/Chemistry/Physics, etc.
- Strong track record (10+ years ideally) with a hands-on background in bioinformatics for systems biology and/or biological network modeling
- Strong familiarity and expertise with existing/commercially available bioinformatics software
- Strong familiarity with cell/molecular biology and signal transduction pathways
- Proven ability to work with experimental scientists to develop appropriate results driven models
- A therapeutic focus in one or more of the following is preferred: Oncology, Neurology, or Immunology.
- An entrepreneurial spirit and a strong interest in break-thru, paradigm shifting technology.
Total compensation (base and bonus) for qualified candidates will be in the $180K ++ range annually. This position will include full corporate relocation, world-class benefits, and the opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative company culture.
LOCALE:- *Please read before applying: The incumbent must be open to relocation to New York State for a 12-24 month period during the product research and development phase (at corporate HQ) and then be available to move to one of the company's divisions near a major life-sciences industry hub thereafter (this will likely be in the North East).
