DATES: September 23-25, 2009
LOCALE: J. Craig Venter Institute, Rockville, MD
The J. Craig Venter Institute offers a three-day course in Eukaryotic Genome Annotation and Analysis. This course will familiarize attendees with eukaryotic annotation methods, tools and computational pipelines for annotation. In this class you will learn about many of the searches, tools, and processes we use to annotate, analyze and compare eukaryotic genomes. You will learn how to put together an analysis "pipeline" for the annotation of a genomic sequence, and how to determine structural and functional characteristics of the features (repeats, genes and gene products, RNAs, etc). You will have the opportunity to practice with some of the publicly available tools for structural and functional annotation and comparative analysis. You will also gain a deeper understanding of the annotations available in public databases.REGISTRATION
