    BACKGROUND

    ProEdit has an immediate need for a scientific/technical writer with a background in bioinformatics or molecular biology. This is a full-time, onsite, six-month contract position in Branford, CT (ZIP code: 06405), just 10 miles east of New Haven, CT.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The writer will be responsible for writing and editing various types of customer-oriented documents, including user’s manuals and guides, training materials, application notes, and best practices, with an emphasis on bioinformatics software for data analysis, and research/medical applications. In addition, the writer will contribute to the production of electronic documentation, including an online software reference manual, software online help, e-learning tutorial modules, etc.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • B.S. or M.S. in bioinformatics, molecular biology, or a related discipline
    • At least four to seven years of experience in software development, research and/or writing, preferably in a biotech setting
    • Solid general knowledge of bioinformatics including assembly and mapping algorithms, DNA database formats, querying and filtering, DNA sequence basecalling and quality scoring
    • Familiarity with the Linux operating system environment, including Graphical User Interfaces, Command Line Interfaces, and underlying hardware/networking considerations
    • Experience creating online help for software applications

    This is a longterm contract position - fulltime - and onsite in CT.
