BACKGROUND

ProEdit has an immediate need for a scientific/technical writer with a background in bioinformatics or molecular biology. This is a full-time, onsite, six-month contract position in Branford, CT (ZIP code: 06405), just 10 miles east of New Haven, CT.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The writer will be responsible for writing and editing various types of customer-oriented documents, including user’s manuals and guides, training materials, application notes, and best practices, with an emphasis on bioinformatics software for data analysis, and research/medical applications. In addition, the writer will contribute to the production of electronic documentation, including an online software reference manual, software online help, e-learning tutorial modules, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

B.S. or M.S. in bioinformatics, molecular biology, or a related discipline
At least four to seven years of experience in software development, research and/or writing, preferably in a biotech setting
Solid general knowledge of bioinformatics including assembly and mapping algorithms, DNA database formats, querying and filtering, DNA sequence basecalling and quality scoring
Familiarity with the Linux operating system environment, including Graphical User Interfaces, Command Line Interfaces, and underlying hardware/networking considerations
Experience creating online help for software applications

This is a longterm contract position - fulltime - and onsite in CT.
