    BACKGROUND

    The The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Department of Computer Science and Engineering is one of the largest departments in the School of Engineering. The Department currently has 40 faculty members recruited from major universities and research institutions around the world, with about 1000 students (including 600 undergraduate and 170 postgraduate students). The medium of instruction is English. More information on the Department can be found at http://www.cse.ust.hk.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Department will have at least two tenure-track faculty openings at Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor levels for the 2010-2011 academic year.

    REQUIREMENTS

    We are looking for faculty candidates with interests in multidisciplinary research areas related to computational science and engineering such as bioinformatics and financial engineering. Strong candidates in core computer science and engineering research areas will also be considered. Applicants at Assistant Professor level should have an earned PhD degree and demonstrated potential in teaching and research.

    SALARY & COMPENSATION

    Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include medical/dental benefits and annual leave. Housing will also be provided where applicable.

    TERMS

    For appointment at Assistant Professor/Associate Professor level, initial appointment will normally be on a three-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement. A gratuity will be payable upon satisfactory completion of contract.
