BACKGROUND
Mayo Clinic is a world-class health care organization with cutting-edge genetic research programs. The Division of Biomedical Statistics and Informatics (BSI) includes more than 280 experts in biostatistics, bioinformatics, and clinical informatics. Our scientists work collaboratively with basic and clinical researchers, providing analytical and interpretative expertise to enable or validate discoveries with high impact on patient care. BSI also leads in the development of statistical and informatics methodologies to provide novel approaches to analyze biomedical data.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr. Jean-Pierre Kocher, Chair of BSI, and with other BSI scientists.RESPONSIBILITIES
The Division of Biomedical Statistics and Informatics in the Department of Health Sciences Research, Mayo Clinic (http://www.mayo.edu) in Rochester, Minnesota (http://www.macc-rochester.com) is seeking a bioinformatics Research Associate (RA) with a Ph.D. in bioinformatics or biology/biochemistry with significant bioinformatics experience. The RA in this position will collaborate with Mayo researchers in studies conducted using genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics as well as high throughput sequencing technologies.REQUIREMENTS
Requirements for the position include programming skills (R and/or SAS), familiarity with data analysis software (Partek, Ingenuity/MetaCore, Genome Studio), and experience in at least one of the following data types: expression microarray, proteomics, array CGH or SNP chips for copy number variation, and next generation sequencing.PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to candidates who have excellent written and oral communication skills, an in depth understanding of the biological questions, and are good team players.TERMS
