This position is responsible for analysis, conceptual design, and implementation of laboratory and process automation. In this position, the candidate will be responsible for design and evaluation of automation equipment, custom modification, collaborating with external system suppliers, and the implementation and integration of laboratory process automation. Other responsibilities include writing specifications and documentation, and small-large size automation/engineering project management. This position involves close collaboration with scientists and staff within this bioinformatics company. Additionally, this person will support the operations, help in troubleshooting, and assist in maintenance of equipment.

This position will provide for relocation and/or sponsorship of the RIGHT candidate. This is a full-time, permanent position located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

REQUIREMENTS

• BS in engineering, biology or related field
• 1-3 years of experience working within a laboratory environment
• experience with laboratory automation equipment (ie. liquid handlers, colony pickers, plate handlers, etc.)
• strong programming skills in Visual Basic
• project management skills
• strong communication and organizational skills
• must have a strong engineering/science mix in academic and working experience

• experience with databases and LIMS interfaces
• other programming languages are a plus
