    Opportunity: BIOINFORMATICS Research Assistant Professor @ CSHL--Cold Spring Harbor, NY (US)

    BACKGROUND

    Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is a world-renowned research and educational institution with innovative research programs in cancer, neuroscience, plant biology and quantitative biology. The Laboratory is recognized internationally for its excellence in research and educational activities.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a motivated computational biologist to lead its Bioinformatics Shared Resource. The individual in this position will interact with CSHL experimentalists and collaborate in genome analysis projects related to Next Generation DNA sequencing data analysis, motif discovery, regulatory network studies and microarray data analysis. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing an existing group of several outstanding computational scientists that provides support for cancer related research.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Candidates should have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics or biology with demonstrable computational skills and at least two years post-doctoral experience.
    • Candidates should be familiar with widely used biology databases and bioinformatics methods, and with at least two of the following programming languages: C/C++, Perl, Python, CGI, MySQL.
    • Experience with database management, web page development and web server management is required.
    • Excellent supervisory and management skills are required, as well as communication and writing skills
