    RESPONSIBILITIES

    We are now seeking to fill the new post of a hands-on Research Investigator in the Bioinformatics group of our Biomarkers and Personalized Medicine unit. The qualified candidate has a solid background in bioinformatics and computer science. Daily responsibilities would include data analysis and computational tools and new algorithms development, handling of large scale multi-OMICS data (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and other pharmacology related data.)
    • Data mining on multi-OMICS data
    • System integrating/developing on multi-OMICS data
    • Developing useful computational tools and new algorithms for wet experimental researchers
    • Providing expert data mining support to translational research
    • Documentation preparation (e.g., monthly report, study report, study protocols, etc.)

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Ph.D. with three or more years of relevant research experience in bioinformatics data analysis and system development
    • Strong background in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science or other related fields
    • Independent problem-solving capability in bioinformatics field
    • Excellent skills in R plus experience in at least one other computer language such as Ruby, PHP, Python, Perl, Java C++ and C
    • Excellent web application framework programming skills in at least one of the following: Ruby on Rails, CakePHP, Django, or Catalyst
    • Highly proficient in at least one of the RDBMSs (relational data base management system) such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, mySQL, SQlite, etc.
    • Proven expertise in Linux (including system administration)
    • Passion for beautiful algorithm and code
    • Wide interest in genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and animal imaging data analysis
    • Knowledge in biology/pharmacology/mass spectrometry/open source programming/cloud computing fields desirable.
