    BACKGROUND

    TAJ Technologies, Inc. is celebrating its 21st year of successfully providing technology staffing, consulting, and project-based services in onsite, offsite and offshore environments. We have several locations across the US and serve government and fortune 500 clients across the nation and overseas. We currently receive 30-40 New IT positions from our clients every week.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Multiple positions are open for Scientific Data Management Specialists to process, solicit, and provide assistance with data submissions for scientific data from epigenomic and/or genome sequencing and genotyping experiments into existing databases, analysis pipelines and associated data flows. Developing and improving the infrastructure supporting these systems.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Required for all positions:
    • Formal Education (minimum: Bachelor’s in life sciences, physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science)
    • Scripting experience in PERL or related language
    • Experience with LINUX/UNIX
    • Ability to use Microsoft Excel and related applications
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • The candidate has experience moving large amounts of quantitative data reliably and efficiently
    Required for some positions, desired for all positions:
    • Experience with SQL
    • Broad knowledge of biology, especially genetics, cell biology, and biochemistry
    • Knowledge of chip-based and sequencing-based high-throughput methodologies
    • Experience with sequence alignment programs (BLAST or related)

    PREFERENCES

    Since there are multiple positions open, the below is just a sampling of skills that are expected to be useful in these positions:
    • Formal Education (desired: Master’s in life sciences, physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science)
    • Experience with XML/XSLT
    • Experience with array data, especially expression or genotyping data
    • Experience with C++ (or C)
    • Experience doing QA filtering of genotype data (HWE, non-Mendelian segregation)
    • Experience with the NCBI GEO, SRA, dbSNP, Trace, GenBank, or dbGaP databases
    • Experience with grid computing (LSF, SunGrid, etc.)
    • Experience with HTML, CSS, and Javascript and related web based tools
