    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Bioinformatics consultancy, applications support and development, developing and providing training workshops. This is a highly collaborative role where you’ll be involved in everything from the analysis of genomic data to the design, development, implementation and testing of bioinformatics tools. Knowledge sharing is a pivotal component of our success, so you can also look forward to acting in consultant capacity (primarily externally) and the autonomy to contribute to scientific publications.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Our people are at the pinnacle in their professions, so with your related PhD, and solid skills in statistical and bioinformatics programmes you will not only fit right in, you’ll hit the ground running. An outstanding communicator, time manager and relationship builder, you’ll also come to us with a thorough knowledge of Unix, web based technologies and scripting language.

    Skills:
    • A minimum of three years experience in bioinformatics consultancy
    • Technically proficient in bioinformatics and statistics data analysis
    • Experience with bioinformatics and statistics tools
    • Experience with Perl or any other scripting language
    • Knowledge of Unix and web based technologies and related technical skills
    • Knowledge of and interest in next generation sequencing technologies
    • Experience in a training environment would be an advantage
    • Project planning and management
    PREFERENCES:
    • PhD or equivalent in a Biological, Computational or Mathematical Biology discipline
    • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in statistics
    • Experience in gene expression analysis
    TERMS: Fixed term for 18 months
