RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop and deploy new and existing systems, including system testing and response to user feedback.
• Work as part of the software development and research team to meet or exceed development milestones.
• Work closely with researchers to obtain user requirements and propose software architecture, algorithms and project plans.
• Perform in-depth evaluation of data and information to solve complex problems. Proactively make technical recommendations to senior staff and manager. Engage in document planning, design, and issue resolution.
• Plan project requirements and work with manager to allocate resources. Update project plans, proactively raise and recommend resolution of technical issues.
• Ensure that designs meet performance and robustness requirements.
• Engage in optimization and parallelization efforts.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years of software development experience.
• Expert knowledge of Java, SQL, and HTML.
• Knowledge of MySQL, Maven, Hibernate, Spring, and Subversion, are strong plusses.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relational database design and performance tuning a strong plus.
• Strong interest in contributing to biological research with clinical applications.
• Prior involvement or interest in bioinformatics or cancer genomics domain a plus.
• Must be able to handle a variety of tasks, effectively solve problems with numerous and complex variables, and be able to shift priorities flexibly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Cover letter encouraged.
