RESPONSIBILITIES
Computercraft seeks a Scientific Data Management Specialists to receive, process, and solicit genetic sequencing data sets from scientific projects and investigators. The individual will also aid users with data retrieval questions and analyze sequence data, metadata, and technology.
This is a full-time position located on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The individual will work together with experts from NIH's National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) in the National Library of Medicine (NLM).REQUIREMENTS
- Formal Education (minimum: Masters of Science in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics)
- Programming experience in a UNIX/LINUX environment
- Broad knowledge of biology, especially genetics, cell biology, and biochemistry
- Experience and aptitude for handling large datasets, data mining, and data analysis
- Customer support experience with trouble ticket systems
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Scripting in Bash, Perl, Python, or other schell scripting languages in UNIX environment
- Database design, SQL, PL/SQL
- Testing and Qualification
- Grid computing (LSF,SunGrid, etc.)
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel and related applications
- Statistical analysis skills using R or other packages
- XML, XSLT, and allied technologies
- Object oriented analysis and design experience
