    RESPONSIBILITIES

    We are looking for a talented and highly motivated programmer to join the Peters lab (http://www.liai.org/pages/faculty-peters). Candidates will work within a team of experimental and computational scientists to develop, deploy, and maintain production web applications and databases used to improve the scientific understanding of the human immune system and facilitate the development of new diagnostics, vaccines, and immunotherapeutics. Candidates will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and working experience in bioinformatics and immunology while working at La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology (http://www.liai.org), one of the top immunological research institutes.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Interested candidates should minimally have a Bachelor degree in the sciences with strong computer programming and information technology experience.
    • Other requirements include demonstrated experience with Java web development, relational databases, XML, Linux/Unix, and major bioinformatics resources (e.g. GenBank, Swiss-Prot, PDB, BLAST, and NCBI Entrez).

    PREFERENCES

    • Experience with .NET, Perl, Python, Django, ASP, Struts, Eclipse IDE, and Apache Tomcat is desirable.
    • Background knowledge of immunology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics is a strong plus.
