BACKGROUND
The Bioinformatics Research Center at UNC-Charlotte invites applications for a Director of Bioinformatics Services. The Center has the leadership role in bioinformatics for the nearby North Carolina Research Campus (NCRC) at Kannapolis (http://www.ncresearchcampus.net). The NCRC is a $1.5B, 350-acre biotechnology Research Park that is home to the research programs of private biotechnology companies, as well as those of seven NC research universities and several health care organizations.RESPONSIBILITIES
The individual accepting this position will supervise a staff of bioinformatics research specialists who will work in close collaboration with scientists from academia and industry at the Kannapolis campus.
Job duties will include consultation with public and private investigators, setup and maintenance of collaborative research agreements and the management of contracts for bioinformatics services.REQUIREMENTS
- Successful applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biology, Computer Science or a related field.
PREFERENCES
- Experience with managing medium to large-scale bioinformatics or biotechnology projects is preferred.
TERMS
This is a renewable non-tenure track 12-month faculty position at the rank of Research Assistant/Associate Professor with an initial three-year contract.HOW TO APPLY
