Dow AgroSciences R&D is committed to the exploitation of genomic and related data to drive rational discovery approaches in the pursuit of new agrochemicals, agronomic traits, vaccines etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This role will support scientists in lead generation, mode of action, protein production and germplasm development studies by developing, validating and applying new computational tools to integrate and analyze diverse biological datasets.
The candidate will identify, evaluate, and install new bioinformatics software as well as develop proprietary algorithms and make them available to scientists across Dow AgroSciences/ Core Biotech R&D. This will include developing external contact to create and execute projects and bring external technologies in-house. He/she will provide training in practical and theoretical aspects of bioinformatics to bench scientists and other practitioners. The candidate will also help to maintain and enhance DAS bioinformatics infrastructure by providing process automation through scripting and/or software configuration.
The candidate will provide database and software support to current systems and tools through troubleshooting issues, and providing user training and specialized queries/reports. He/she will also generate project and technical documentation.
REQUIREMENTS
- Masters degree in Bioinformatics is preferred.
- Masters degree in Computer Science, or Molecular Biology, with 2+ years experience in bioinformatics will also be considered.
