Bioinformatics Specialist Position at The University of Kansas

Bioinformatics Specialist: The University of Kansas is seeking an individual to establish a bioinformatics program with an emphasis on basic biological research. The successful candidate will devote much of their initial efforts to develop and maintain an integrated bioinformatics network/facility to serve a diverse research community. A second goal will be to develop a bioinformatics course, a user-friendly web site and user interfaces for bioinformatics. Expectations include strong collaborations with faculty on extramurally funded research programs in the application of bioinformatics to basic biological research. The initial appointment will be at the research assistant professor level with potential promotion to tenure-track. Requirements include a Ph.D. and demonstrated accomplishments in bioinformatics, or in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or genetics with a bioinformatics emphasis. Postdoctoral level (or equivalent) research experience in bioinformatics or computational biology is preferred. Relevant interests include: proteomics, genomics, gene expression analysis, structure-function domain analyses, database mining, molecular modeling and programming.
