    BACKGROUND

    The Bioinformatics and BioStatistics Service (BABS) as part of CRUK's London Research Institute, provides support to the Institute scientists by analysing data generated from high-throughput technologies such as microarrays and next-generation sequencers. Additionally the group provides support in the areas of biostatistics, and genomics.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The post is a data analysis position and will provide: analysis support for high-throughput data, primarily Illumina sequencing data; functional annotation; and develop methods of presentation of results. It will require working with scientists on a regular and collaborative basis and as such it will require good knowledge of molecular biology, genetics and analysis techniques for genomic data.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • You should possess: a degree in a subject area relevant to computing or bioinformatics; the ability to program and script; and be able to illustrate current relevant experience.
    • Good communication skills are essential as the post will involve working closely with research scientists and other bioinformaticians.

    PREFERENCES

    • Good knowledge of bioinformatics software and data resources such as the Genome Browsers would be advantageous.

    LOCALE

    UK London. The London Research Institute (LRI) has 2 sites, one in the centre of London at Lincolns Inn Fields, Holborn, where this position will be based and another satellite site at Clare Hall Laboratories in South Mimms, just outside London.

    COMPENSATION

    28,000 - 33,000 GBP pa inclusive.
