    BACKGROUND

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The position is in the Mathematics, Information & Data Analysis Solutions group as a LIMS Developer/ Development Specialist. The work group is engaged in providing specialized computing support to the Biological Solutions platform of Dow AgroSciences, including laboratory tracking, reporting, and informatics analysis. The successful candidate will be engaged as part of a team in designing and implementing Laboratory Information Management systems in support of the drive for increased productivity and effectiveness. The role will include requirements analysis for systems to be developed, developing LIMS applications supporting biotech R&D activities, maintaining and enhancing systems in production, documentation and training. The primary customers are laboratory researchers at all levels and this role will require extensive interaction with these scientists.

    The candidate will be responsible for the design, delivery and support of LIMS systems and tools to enable the work of scientists in a number of work areas and disciplines. These systems are currently built on ThermoFisher Nautilus technology.

    A typical project will include customers in a variety of scientific disciplines - molecular biology, biochemistry, information management.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Experience with development and support techniques for long term sustainable software is critical.
    • Experience with data visualization and data mining techniques would be a considerable asset in this role.
    • Prior experience with configuring LIMS systems in a research laboratory environment is required.
    • Knowledge for this role will include interfacing with Java, Microsoft (.Net), SQL (Oracle, SQL Server) and web technologies (HTML, XML) - especially Service Oriented Architecture.
    • The position requires a people-oriented individual who can foster the collaborative process; communication skills and interpersonal effectiveness are critical for this role.
    • The successful candidate will need to be able to adapt and lead in a rapidly changing environment.
    • The candidate must be able to work in a dynamic environment where frequent change is commonplace.

    LOCALE

    This position is located in Indianapolis, IN, USA.

    While the majority of the customers are based in Indianapolis, DAS has research interests in other locations and the ability to work as part of a remote team is important.
