RESPONSIBILITIES

This position, with Dow AgroSciences' Bioprocess R&D (BPRD) function in Indianapolis, will accelerate the development of data/information systems to support the business objectives of BPRD. Under the direction of the BPRD management, the Business Analyst is responsible for leading information management projects as directed by BPRD management and the Information Manager. A primary responsibility is to introduce methods, technology and work processes into BPRD to improve information management. The incumbent must contribute to the following: identifying system needs, defining system requirements, system analysis and design, system test plans, and end user consultation. The business analyst is responsible for defining and documenting procedures and work processes required to properly initialize and implement R&D systems. Following initial implementation of each system/application, the business analyst is accountable for the transfer of appropriate procedures and work processes to designated individuals responsible for the continued maintenance and user support.

The primary purpose of this job is to successfully execute information management projects to meeting BPRD needs. This requires accurate translation of BPRD user needs into defined projects that are accurately communicated to R&D IM personnel. Successful project execution requires planning, development, testing, enhancement and operation information systems.

Examples of responsibilities expected from this role are as follows:
  • Working with IM personnel, plan and execute projects related to data/information systems.
  • Improve BPRD work processes by implementation of data/ information management systems.
  • Work in conjunction with IS personnel and support staff to complete activities relating to the definition, design and implementation of new information systems or enhancements to existing systems.
  • Manage and maintain data systems critical to BPRD needs.
Serve as an administrator for key BPRD systems such as SharePoint websites, fileshares, and databases.
  • Develop training programs for BPRD users to ensure effective delivery of new information systems.
  • Effectively communicate with BPRD system users and to R&D Information Managers personnel.
  • Serve as the primary focal point to identify needs and interface between BPRD users and IS personnel in regard to system operations, procedures, system enhancements or development of new information systems.
  • Represent BPRD on cross-function R&D information management teams.
  • Develop expertise in deploying Six Sigma methodology to drive process improvements.
