RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are currently searching for a T-Cell Assay Specialist (Flow Cytometrist) to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position with Lockheed Martin-MSD and it is on-site at the NIH in Bethesda/Rockville, MD.
Candidate will be responsible for all Flow cytometry and ELISPOT testing and establishing Flow cytometry and ELISPOT standard practices.
Essential duties:
- In coordination with the IT, testing laboratory and QA managers will be responsible for the establishment and enforcement of standard testing practices within the area of flow cytometry inclusive of:
- - Appropriate instrument calibration practices
- - Appropriate methods of electronic record storage
- - Appropriate analysts training and proficiency testing plans
- As the subject expert in Flow cytometry and ELISPOT will provide technical insight of:
- - Analytical investigations
- - New method transfers from the methods development department
- - Transfer of methods to partner laboratories in coordination with technology transfer manager
- - Regulatory audits
- Based upon work projections provided by the testing laboratory manager will derive the resource needs and schedules for flow cytometry and ELISPOT
- - Responsible for resolving any disputes or last minute changes to the resource needs, inclusive of requests of staff to work overtime
- - Assure no delays in testing due to instrumentation and/or supply shortages
- Responsible for the oversight of the daily work performed by the analysts doing flow cytometry and ELISPOT to assure the work meets documented practices
- - Responsible for review/approval of all documentation and data generated in Flow cytometry and ELISPOT
- - Work with the analysts to correct any deficiencies in a timely manor
- - Participate in the performance of daily testing as time permits
- - Analyst training/proficiency testing
- - Instrument/reagent certification, calibration
- Manage the flow cytometry and ELISPOT area proactively and will effectively communicate emerging issues to the test laboratory manager
- Responsible to assure that all internal and external audits of the flow cytometry and ELISPOT are passed successfully
- - If deficiencies are found, the candidate is responsible for providing an acceptable proposal for resolution to the testing laboratory and QA manager.
- Assure practices consistent with industry standards, US Code of Federal Regulation (US CFR), International Committee for Harmonization (ICH) for Good Laboratory Practices.
- Responsible for meeting all time lines and milestones
- Evaluate alternative approaches and institute approaches with sound scientific and business judgment.
- Perform other duties as required.
- MS degree or BS/BA with 5+ years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience in GLP testing laboratories
- - Inclusive of extensive experience within specialty area
- 2-5 years ELISPOT and Flow Cytometry experience
- Ability to perform all aspects of supervision of approximately 5 subordinates (inclusive of scheduling and work oversight)
