RESPONSIBILITIES
The Bioinformatics Analyst will be in charge of training and running a number of gene finders, searching and interpreting results from several databases such as Pfam-HMM and GenBank-NR protein databases, and performing functional annotation and comparative genome analysis to ensure annotation consistency across several T. gondii strains. Also, the BA will have to be able to write scripts and design high throughput strategies to troubleshoot annotation and analyze different data-types, such as repeats, segmental duplications, genome rearrangements, protein families, etc.REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the Biological Sciences required; PhD preferred plus experience working with computers in the field of biological sciences.
- Strong Biology/Molecular Biology/Microbiology experience
- Familiarity with Unix environment/familiarity with SQL/basic PERL a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong demonstrated analytical skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to meet schedules
- Ability to collaborate across a multi-disciplinary team, and work independently
