    BACKGROUND

Lonza is an international, dynamic service provider in the biotherapeutics development and manufacturing field. Its newly created Protein Design Services business focuses on therapeutic protein design and optimization, with two centres of scientific excellence in Ghent (Belgium) and Cambridge (UK), dedicated to bring innovative solutions to drug discovery and biopharmaceutical development. The business unit brings together Lonza’s AggreSolve™ platform for protein stability and aggregation assessment with the recently acquired Algonomics business, focusing on immunogenicity screening of protein therapeutics.

We are currently hiring scientists to join our Advanced Protein Technologies (APT) department in Cambridge (UK) to expand our capacity and service offering portfolio. We are looking for candidates with industrial expertise in fields such as structural bioinformatics, data-mining, immunology and immunomonitoring, preferably with a combination of these skills.

Scientists will be part of a multidisciplinary research and expertise team focusing on therapeutic antibodies, protein and peptide discovery and in the immunoprofiling and developability assessment of therapeutic proteins and vaccines. APT is a first class research centre with innovative computational and experimental technologies applied to unravel protein immunogenicity, stability and aggregation problems, characterise protein-peptide interactions and engineer safer and better biotherapeutics.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

To strengthen our structural bioinformatics team, we are currently seeking experienced senior scientists in structural bioinformatics.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • The candidates will have a post-doc and industrial experience in protein design, modelling and/or engineering.
    • They will have working experience in multiple modelling platforms and will have been actively involved in the rational design of therapeutic proteins and/or vaccines.
    • A background in data analysis (PCA, PLS, etc.) and machine-learning approaches will be favourably considered.
    • The candidates shall have strong communication and project management skills, and drive projects forward employing excellent scientific insights and result-driven approaches.
    • They will have experience in supervising teams in an R&D environment, and deliver customer driven results in a timely way.
    • The candidates will take advantage of a multidisciplinary and scientifically challenging environment and endeavour to develop innovative computational methodologies to generate better and safer biotherapeutics.
