BACKGROUND
Lonza is an international, dynamic service provider in the biotherapeutics development and manufacturing field. Its newly created Protein Design Services business focuses on therapeutic protein design and optimization, with two centres of scientific excellence in Ghent (Belgium) and Cambridge (UK), dedicated to bring innovative solutions to drug discovery and biopharmaceutical development. The business unit brings together Lonza’s AggreSolve™ platform for protein stability and aggregation assessment with the recently acquired Algonomics business, focusing on immunogenicity screening of protein therapeutics.
We are currently hiring scientists to join our Advanced Protein Technologies (APT) department in Cambridge (UK) to expand our capacity and service offering portfolio. We are looking for candidates with industrial expertise in fields such as structural bioinformatics, data-mining, immunology and immunomonitoring, preferably with a combination of these skills.
Scientists will be part of a multidisciplinary research and expertise team focusing on therapeutic antibodies, protein and peptide discovery and in the immunoprofiling and developability assessment of therapeutic proteins and vaccines. APT is a first class research centre with innovative computational and experimental technologies applied to unravel protein immunogenicity, stability and aggregation problems, characterise protein-peptide interactions and engineer safer and better biotherapeutics.RESPONSIBILITIES
In order to strengthen our structural bioinformatics team, we are currently seeking a M.Sc. or PhD in structural biology or bioinformatics. The candidate shall work mostly on research and development projects related to protein-protein interaction, immunogenicity & stability assessment and protein engineering amongst others. They will have a deep insight in protein structure and design, particularly antibodies and preferably will have prior industrial experience.REQUIREMENTS
A team player, able to share knowledge with others and actively participate in scientific discussions with other members of the APT team and collaborators. Able to work independently to an established plan, prioritise and work to tight deadlines. Essential to have good communication skills and a problem-solving attitude.
