RESPONSIBILITIES
We are currently recruiting for a full-time bioinformatics programmer. This team member will join us in developing and expanding BioGPS (http://biogps.gnf.org) as well as a new, unannounced project. BioGPS is a popular and heavily-used website for the life sciences community. The key features include extensibility through a simple plugin model, and user customizability using a personalized layout system.
Qualified candidates will have a solid foundation in software engineering. Candidates will be asked to present in detail their contributions to one or more past projects. The BioGPS application is developed in a combination of .NET and Python/Django, but experience with any programming language is acceptable if accompanied by a willingness to learn.REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years web programming experience
- 0-4 years employment history
- Substantial and demonstrable contributions to real-world projects
PREFERENCES
- Experience on multi-developer projects
- Experience in the life sciences industry
- Experience with SVN and trac
- Experience developing social networking applications
