    BACKGROUND

    St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. In an unprecedented effort to identify the genetic changes that give rise to some of the world’s deadliest childhood cancers, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in collaboration with Washington University has launched the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Currently, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an opening for an Associate Research Scientist - Pediatric Genome Project (Job Number 18229).

    The Associate Research Scientist in the Computational Biology Department will be part of a team involved in analysis of the data generated from sequencing the genomes of more than 600 childhood cancer patients. The Associate Research Scientist will have a lead role in developing novel algorithms for large-scale genomic data analysis focusing on next-generation sequence data, integrative analysis of multi-dimensional cancer genomic data and biomarker discovery.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Bioinformatics or related field is required.
    • Bioinformatics research is required.
    • Experience with dynamic programming, graph theory, genetic algorithm, decision tree and Bayesian network is required.

    PREFERENCES

    • Experience with assembly algorithm is highly desirable.
