    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Zeitlinger lab at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research (http://www.stowers.org/labs/zeitlingerlab.asp) has an opening for a bioinformatics programmer to help in the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data (ChIP-seq) and other genomics experiments and to assist with computational approaches to solving biological problems.

    Responsibilities include writing code and developing solutions to computational biology problems, typically using PERL, Python and R, and possibly C/C++, Java, MatLab, Excel VBA, Access; and developing and/or maintaining software for analyzing biological data, and documenting how packages can be used with the existing computing infrastructure.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum requirements include an undergraduate degree in science, math, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
    • At least one year of programming experience

    PREFERENCES

    • In addition to excellent communication skills and experience in PERL, Python and R, the successful candidate will also have a background in statistics and basic biology, and is highly motivated to solve scientific problems in an academic setting.
