RESPONSIBILITIES
SAIC-Frederick, Inc., the operations and technical support contractor for the NCI-Frederick, has an exciting opportunity for a Post Doc Fellow. The Advanced Biomedical Computing Center (ABCC), part of the Information Systems Program, provides scientific computing, modeling, imaging, and bioinformatics support, engages in scientific consultation and collaboration, and offers training to NCI and NIH scientists and staff.
The successful candidate will set up and run simulations of DNA using an all-atom empirical energy force field. The goal will be to determine nucleotide sequences that promote the formation of non-B DNA structures, and to examine the change in stability of these structures due to genetic variability. Estimate the stability of non-B DNA structures compared to B DNA taking into account genetic variation, methylation, and effects of the environment.REQUIREMENTS
- Doctorate degree from an accredited college/university in a discipline related to Molecular Modeling, Computational Chemistry, Mathematics, Biostatistics or closely related scientific fields
- Foreign educated candidates who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States must have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approved accrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency of the qualifications of degree work in the United States.
- Experience preparing input files, running empirical energy simulations of DNA or RNA, and analyzing the results; and the ability to develop non-standard force field parameters
- These activities require moderate skills in computer programming and/or using a scripting language.
