    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Sophic licenses, implements and supports Biomax (Munich, Germany) Knowledge Management, Database Integration and Linguistic Software in the U.S. for government, academic organizations and biotech/pharmaceutical companies. Sophic Associate Scientific Software Engineers (SSE) use the flexible/agile Biomax software modules to configure scientific/biomedical solutions based on customer requirements. This entails data modeling, database integration, writing external queries and APIs to integrate heterogeneous data sources, text mining, providing end-user and technical training for large scale implementation projects. SSEs also support a range of cancer and complex disease related projects including data/text mining, curation and the development of scientific and biomedical databases and software applications.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Prefer a Ph.D. in the Bioinformatics or Life Sciences or a M.S. in Bioinformatics and/or Computer Science and/or Biotechnology from an accredited university.
    • Should have 2-5 Years Experience as a Post Doc or Bioinformatics Software Professional.
    • Experience, proficiency and knowledge of systems design, data modeling, programming in Java, Perl, Bio-Perl, XML, HTML, R, SAS, Web services APIs, Unix/Linux Environments, SQL, Oracle, Text/Data-mining, and various NCICB tools, and other COTS systems.
    • Strong problem solving and communication skills required.
    • Team player, positive can-do attitude with the ability to work in a diversified, dynamic environment and when necessary, ability to work independently.
    • H1-B our U.S. Citizenship required.

    PREFERENCES

    • Cancer research and/or cancer biomarkers experience is a plus.
    • Experience working in a commercial software/pharma/biotech company is a plus.
