RESPONSIBILITIES
The Division of Biomedical Informatics and Statistics at Mayo Clinic is seeking a Bioinformatics Research Associate to join the research team of Alzheimer Disease located in Mayo Rochester MN and Jacksonville FL. This person will have the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment with faculties in both the Division of Biomedical Informatics and Statistics and the Departments of Neuroscience and Neurology.
The person who fills this position would support the analysis of large sets of genetic/genomics data (GWAS, DASL gene expression microarray, next-generation sequence, etc.) and medical imaging data, and interfacing with databases of clinical data. This person will be primarily located in Jacksonville FL and will be required to travel to Rochester MN at a certain frequency.REQUIREMENTS
- The candidates should preferably have a PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or Biostatistics. Qualified candidates with a PhD in Biology and significant experience in Bioinformatics will also be considered.
- The candidates must have experience working with large datasets in the UNIX/LINUX environment, and should be familiar with scripting languages, such as PERL and Python.
PREFERENCES
- Candidates with statistical knowledge and experience will be preferred.
- Knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing technology and various microarray platforms, as well as familiarity with data analysis software (Partek, Ingenuity/MetaCore, Genome Studio), is a plus.
