BACKGROUND
Applications are invited for a Programmer/Data Manager to support the activities of the Bioinformatics group (50%) and the IT department (50%) at the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology. The position is available immediately for an initial two year appointment. Part-time employment is possible.
We are looking for a motivated team player with strong communications skills and the desire to work in a dynamic environment. The successful applicant will have good programming skills; experience with bioinformatics tools and sequence analysis will be a plus.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Database management and maintenance
- Development of Web servers and user interfaces
- Software development and documentation
REQUIREMENTS
- Masters degree in informatics/bioinformatics or equivalent
- Experience with Unix/Linux operating system
- Knowledge of C/C++ and scripting languages (e.g. Perl)
- Experience with database management (e.g. MySQL)
SALARY & COMPENSATION
Salary will be based on previous experience according to TVoD guidelines. A childcare facility is directly attached to the MPI of Immunobiology.
