    BACKGROUND

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Lead critical strategic level data analysis efforts for Seeds & Traits R&D (STRD) plant breeding programs.

    The position will provide critical enhanced decision making leadership and expertise to:
    • Support Seeds and Traits R&D (STRD) pre-advancement and corporate data reviews.
    • Chart progress of STRD strategy and breeding programs.
    • Provide concise information to Product Development to enhance crop product positioning of hybrid products in preparation for commercial launch.
    • Identify innovation opportunities and/or performance gaps.
    • Calculate resource requirements to innovate and or close performance gaps.
    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Lead efforts for high-priority data analysis and interpretation needs in STRD (advancement and special projects). Provide quality data analysis tools to breeders in order to facilitate enhance / speed breeding decisions.
    • Lead efforts to explore, develop and/or implement new analytical innovations.
    Focal point to incorporate data (all crops) into analysis for decision- making in product advancement, and track/position annual hybrid performance data vs. competition.
    • Lead efforts to rapidly coordinate and publish pipeline competitiveness assessments for core crops in each priority market.
    • Serve as plant breeding/agronomy subject matter expert for data information management team and insure data consistency.
    • Lead interface with production and commercialization teams to insure data integrity and analysis consistency throughout the pipeline to evaluate competitive hybrid performance and positioning.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • The successful candidate will be skilled on Dow AgroSciences core competencies: technical knowledge, leadership, initiative, interpersonal effectiveness, and customer and market focus.
    • In addition to Dow AgroSciences core competencies, the successful applicant will understand or rapidly learn our markets and factors that add value in new products.
    • Excellent communication skills are critical.
    • Proficient understanding of statistics, experimental design and/or quantitative genetics is preferred.
    • Ability to use statistical software packages is preferred.
    • Basic agronomic knowledge and plant breeding knowledge is desirable.
    • It is expected that applicants have the interpersonal effectiveness and personal leadership skills to successfully lead projects or teams.
    • The candidate must recognize importance of promoting a strong culture of employee health and safety.
