This opportunity exists in our South San Francisco, CA, headquarters:RESPONSIBILITIES
Genentech is seeking a highly motivated computational biologist to engage in scientific analysis and discovery through computational analysis and tool development. This individual will have the opportunity to use high-throughput technologies, such as next generation sequencing and microarrays, to help advance cancer genomics and cancer biology. Responsibilities also include providing computational tools and software as needed to enable advanced data analysis. This individual is also expected to engage in active and fruitful collaborations with others that will lead to cancer target or biomarker discovery and publication in peer-reviewed journals.REQUIREMENTS
- A PhD in Computational Biology or four years of relevant experience is required, with a scholastic record that demonstrates competence and technical proficiency.
- Strong programming skill and practical knowledge of statistical methods is highly desirable.
- The successful candidate should also be goal-oriented, work well under pressure and possess effective communication skills, multi-tasking capability and ability to work independently.
- We expect this person to be technically strong and independent and be able to consistently work well in a team-oriented environment at the same time.
