    BACKGROUND

    The Stowers Institute for Medical Research has an opening for a Computational Biologist to assist with the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data and microarray data (ChIP-seq, ChIP-chip), and with computational approaches to solving biological problems.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities include writing code and developing solutions to computational problems, and developing and/or maintaining software for analyzing biological data.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • A Ph.D. in molecular biology, or doctorate in another science and experience with genome technologies, is required for this position.
    • Familiarity with Linux environment and experience with a scripting language such as PERL, Python, or with R and Bioconductor packages is also required.

    PREFERENCES

    • In addition to excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively function in a team-oriented environment, the successful candidate will have knowledge and interest in biology, statistics, and genomics, or familiarity with R and Bioconductor packages.
