    BACKGROUND

    The Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources explores new frontiers in food production, carbon cycling and agricultural sustainability. Within this research profile, we aim to develop and embrace cutting edge technologies, including recent developments in fields such as catchment management, land rehabilitation, and molecular biology.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    We are currently seeking to appoint a Molecular Technical Officer to play a vital role in developing the faculty’s molecular biological portfolio. You will provide technical support for molecular genetic researchers in the faculty and provide high-level advice on the choice of suitable techniques and equipment to solve their research problems.

    You will coordinate the optimisation and selection of new equipment required for molecular genetic research and will be responsible for maintaining this equipment and training others in its use. Additionally you will manage the faculty’s laboratories at Australian Technology Park including responsibility for OH&S and purchases of research laboratory consumables.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Experience in a laboratory environment, using a range of current molecular genetic research techniques and relevant qualifications in molecular genetics/microbiology will be key to your success.
    • Ability to select and purchase appropriate laboratory-related consumables and the capacity to demonstrate safe work practices involved in the use of laboratory equipment will be beneficial.

    TERMS

    The position is full-time continuing subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.

    SALARY & COMPENSATION

    $83,788.18 - $91,281.57 p.a. (which includes a base salary Level 7 $70,802 - $77,134 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
