This opportunity exists in our South San Francisco, CA, headquarters.RESPONSIBILITIES
Genentech seeks a highly motivated, interactive and creative scientist at the PhD level to support a variety of research projects. The position is within the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Department. The scientist will work on a variety of high dimensional data projects largely centered on biomarker discovery. In particular, they will work on developing biomarkers for response to therapy and disease subtype classification. A strong background in statistics (graduate level work) and computation are essential. Excellent publications or equivalent industry experience are essential. A good working knowledge of bioinformatics and biological concepts will be needed.REQUIREMENTS
- This position requires a PhD with at least two years of full time experience in an academic or biotechnology industry laboratory.
- The candidate must have experience with a broad range of contemporary statistical methods for classification and prediction, e.g., linear models, machine learning and other multivariate analysis methods.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in biomarker discovery.
- The successful individual will have excellent organizational, problem-solving, verbal/written communication and bioinformatic skills.
- The ability and desire to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, innovative and interdependent research environment is vital.
