RESPONSIBILITIES

The Disease and Translational Informatics Department at Roche Pharmaceuticals in Nutley, NJ is seeking a biomedical informatics scientist who will be part of a group in building intelligent scientific systems integrating various genomics and text data in the research and early development environment. The candidate will lead informatics projects and work closely with disease and translational biologists, bioinformatics analysts, biostatisticians and software developers in a team environment. The individual will work closely current bioinformatics databases, algorithms and analysis tools, as well as one or more of the following genomic technologies: gene expression profiling, aCGH, next-gen sequencing, pathway and bio-network analysis.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates with recent experiences in the field of text mining (e.g., Linguamatics I2E, open source NER tools) or next-gen sequencing algorithms are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • To be considered, the applicant should have a PhD in Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics, Computer Science, Computational Biology or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Java, Perl, R, Python, relational database design, dynamic web skills and excellent communication skills is required.
  • You’re someone who wants to influence your own development.

PREFERENCES

  • Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is desired but not essential.
