    RESPONSIBILITIES

The Metagenomic Sequence Analysis Group at Genoscope (Genomic Institute of CEA) is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow in Computational Biology or Bioinformatics.

This researcher will join a growing group dedicated to the analysis and mining of high-throughput sequence data originating from uncultured micro-organisms sampled from various environments. The successful candidate will pursue research within the framework of a European Community Programme aiming at the exploration, understanding and exploitation of the catalytic activities of microbial communities involved in the degradation of persistent poly-aromatic hydrocarbon compounds. He will notably contribute to develop new and apply existing algorithms for the reconstruction of microbial metabolic pathways and the identification of new enzymatic activities.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • The successful applicant should demonstrate a strong motivation to work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment.
    • Doctoral or M.Sc degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Chemoinformatics, Chemistry or a related field
    • Capabilities to handle and analyse heterogeneous genomic data types, as indicated by publication record, and to communicate scientific material

    PREFERENCES

    • Familiarity with next generation sequence data analysis would be a plus.

    TERMS

An initial contract of 2 years will be offered to the successful candidate.

    HOW TO APPLY

To apply, please submit a cover letter, CV, a concise description of research interests and future research plans, as well as contact information for at least 3 references to mgx_application[at]genoscope.cns.fr
