    BACKGROUND

    The Advanced Biomedical Computing Center (ABCC) is a part of the Information Systems Program at SAIC-Frederick. The ABCC provides technology development, scientific consultation, collaboration and training, and high-performance computing support to the NCI and NIH scientists and staff.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position is responsible for providing collaborative imaging and visualization infrastructure support to the NCI scientific community, and works closely with investigators and other bioinformatics analysts to adapt or develop, deploy and maintain technology, analysis tools, applications and databases in support of these efforts. The successful candidate will also be responsible for enhancing accessibility to in-house and external applications and providing associated training in the use of the applications or other tools. The successful candidate will also work with the NCI imaging community to promote the use of shared resources for image analysis and visualization through cooperation and team projects.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Possession of a Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Biomedical Science or a related field (Master's degree preferred) or four (4) years related experience in lieu of degree
    • In addition to education requirements, a minimum of two (2) years related experience
    • Experience in image analysis or visualization and proficiency in C/C++, and either Matlab/Octave, IDL, Python or Java
    • The position also requires the ability to build open source software packages using standard utilities such as make, cmake and ant.
    • The position also requires experience with Linux/Unix, experience developing or maintaining image analysis or visualization software, and strong background in utility programming and database management.

    PREFERENCES

    • Vendor specific training preferred.
