BACKGROUND
Missouri State University is accepting applications for a Research Specialist II for Center for Grapevine Biotechnology at the Mountain Grove Campus.RESPONSIBILITIES
Carrying out advanced research projects by using modern biotechnology, genomics and bioinformatics tools to support and accomplish research projects assigned by Principle Investigator; accomplishing assigned duties independently, effectively, and creatively under general supervision; conducting comparative genomics analysis of grapevines; processing large volumes of sequence data; constructing relational database for the genomics project; analyzes and publishes results.REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in a scientific discipline is required. Master of Science in Bioinformatics and two years of working experience in Bioinformatics or Ph.D. majoring in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology is preferred.
PREFERENCES
- Substantial skills and experience in processing large volumes of genome-size sequences, assembling whole-genome sequences, gene annotation, comparative genomics, and relational database
- Strong background in using informatics tools for sequence analysis, processing, and storing in a UNIX operating system
