    SUMMARY
    Medical Science & Computing, Inc. (MSC) is searching for a Software Developer (C# Programming) to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This is a full-time opportunity with MSC, Inc., and it is on-site at NIH in Bethesda/Rockville, MD.

    We are searching for a highly motivated Software Developer to operate in a multi-disciplinary group of computational biologists, software developers, and operations staff who provide support, training, consultation services and informatics tools to the research community in the areas of computational biosciences. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, good writing skills and an interest in the area of the biological sciences.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    Work cooperatively with the current software development team to:
    • Provide software solutions to address scientific challenges
    • Participate in the basic requirements collection, design review, coding, testing, troubleshooting and support for custom developed software solutions
    • Design, document, and implement new LIMS functionality according to scientific requirements
    • Work under the guidance of lead developer to support LIMS changes and updates
    • Stay abreast on current and emerging software development technologies and tools
    REQUIREMENTS
    • The ideal candidate would be junior level with 1-4 years experience and a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related computational discipline and an interest or background in the biological sciences field.
    • Documented expertise in
    • - C# programming in Microsoft .Net framework
    • - Relational database development, SQL and stored procedure on MS SQL server or MySQL
    • - Web development and Web Service implementation
    • - Experience with LIMS development
    • - Familiarity with Visual Basic
    • - Experience using the R statistical package is preferred
    • - Programming experiences in Java and Perl is helpful
    • Experience with documenting requirements is preferred
    • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Ability to work independently, be detail-oriented, and have excellent analytical skills
    • Demonstrate initiative in experimenting with new technologies
