    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Zhao Bioinformatics Lab at The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, Inc. (http://www.noble.org) is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow / Research Associate to participate in independent research as well as collaborative experiments that focus on the application of bioinformatics and genomics technologies to solve modern plant biological questions.

    The successful candidate will join the laboratory of Dr. Patrick Xuechun Zhao to develop computational methods for integration, analysis, and interpretation of massive volumes of plant 'omics' (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics) data, with specific focus on: 1) gene regulatory elements and networks, 2) annotation of plant and soil microbe genes, 3) biological data integration, mining, and knowledge discovery, and 4) enabling bioinformatics technologies and infrastructure.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Ph.D. degree in quantitative sciences, engineering or related life sciences field
    • Independent problem solving skills
    • Have good communication skills, strong team-work spirit, and self-learning abilities

    PREFERENCES

    • Ph.D. degree in Plant Biology, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or highly-related field
    • Experience in developing large-scale data analysis systems
    • 2+ years of experience in Bioinformatics and Plant Genomics
    • Skills with programming language, such as Java, C/C++, Perl, Python and SQL; and efficiency in Linux/Unix operating systems
    • Experience in computational intelligence / machine learning techniques
