• BACKGROUND

    The Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI) is a center of scientific excellence in research and therapy of autoimmune diseases, such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis and arthritis, and promotes clinical and interdisciplinary research, particularly in cancer, neuroscience, and heart disease. BRI is a non-profit organization celebrating its 54th year as Washington State’s oldest medical research institute with over 200 employees and a $28 million budget for 2010.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    We are seeking two highly motivated individuals interested in joining a new translational genomics and bioinformatics program. The Bioinformatician will be accountable for the progress made in the experiment or project. This will require excellent time management skills, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task. (S)he will be responsible for the analysis of high throughput transcriptional profiling data.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • The Bioinformatician must have experience with microarray analysis and be proficient with the use of specialized analysis software (e.g., GeneSpring, JMP Genomics, Ingenuity pathway analysis).
    • A MS or PhD plus a strong background in computer science and two years of related experiences required.

    PREFERENCES

    • Experience with analysis of high throughput sequencing data is highly desirable.
    • Experience with scripting, programming languages, and relational databases is preferred.
