    BACKGROUND:
    The Dow Chemical Company's Information Systems organization has a challenging and exciting opportunity for a Lead Software Developer. This position is a Software Developer role on the Dow & Dow AgroSciences (DAS) Research and Development (R&D) Innovate & Improve (I&I) team. Main focus of this job is in the development and support of applications for the Dow R&D, DAS R&D and Knowledge Management (KM) areas. The development would be done in combination with other team members, and with Subject Matter Experts (SME's) from the Dow/DAS R&D and KM organizations.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Develop system design and detailed design specifications for the Dow/DAS R&D and KM applications
    • Perform functional/detailed design peer reviews
    • Code and perform code reviews
    • Perform component and assembly testing
    • Interact with clients to develop deliverables that meet expectations and to provide support
    • Correct defects found during product and operational readiness testing
    • Perform application support responsibilities as defined in the Service Level Agreement
    • Answer functional and technical product questions
    • Provide Corrective, Adaptive, Preventative, and Client Service support on applications supported by the team
    • Apply software development methodology and discipline
    • Develop overall and in-depth understanding of appropriate methodology deliverables
    • Track performance against team goals
    • Participate in process improvement efforts
    • Lead and mentor team members as appropriate
    • Execute Project Lead and Support Lead activities as prescribed in the team definition of these roles
    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Requires minimum Bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science, Manage Information System, Business Administration, Engineering, or related technical field.
    • Minimum 4-5 years of relevant work experience. Prefer 5-7 years.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in software development methodologies and work processes.
    • Demonstrated experience working on simultaneous projects across multiple technologies, multiple locations and with a variety of stakeholder groups.
    • A minimum requirement for this U.S. - based position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis (must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident or qualifying Asylee / Refugee).
    PREFERENCES:
    • Hands-on development experience with development tools used in Dow and DAS is beneficial including Visual Studio.Net (ASP.NET & VB.NET), MS Visual Studio (VB & C), Java, Oracle Forms, SQL, PL/SQL; ability to teach these skills to others
    • R&D work process knowledge or experience also beneficial.
    • Six Sigma experience is a plus.

    • Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to partner with customers and sell ideas to those customers is important in this role
