RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are currently looking to recruit a bioinformatics software developer in the US with a strong scientific background in life sciences and experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry. You will develop bioinformatics pipelines to automate the analysis of second-generation sequencing datasets. You will maintain a technical knowledge of emerging second-generation sequencing analysis methodologies, make judgments as to which of these should be incorporated into existing analysis pipelines and develop and integrate novel software algorithms.

REQUIREMENTS:
Educational:

• Advanced degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience is required.
• PhD degree with at least 2 years of postdoctoral or industry experience is preferred.

• Creates and integrates computer algorithms into existing NextGen DNA Sequencing data analysis pipelines

• Integrates community-developed bioinformatics tools into existing data analysis pipelines
• Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.

• Experience with open source bioinformatics tools for sequence alignment, databases etc.
• Experience with whole genome analysis is a plus, as is knowledge of variant (SNP, indel, CNV, etc) detection and gene expression analysis.
• Detailed knowledge of genomics concepts from the molecular biology and genetics perspective is a strong plus.

TERMS:
This is a full-time, permanent position with Tessella. The selected candidate’s first assignment will be at a pharmaceutical company in the New Jersey area. Subsequently, the candidate will work with other pharmaceutical, biotech and life sciences industry clients.

COMPENSATION: $70,000 - $95,000
