    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Provide research lab with practical, creative end-user solutions to a variety of difficult technical problems of significant scope and complexity. Will be in charge of the design and implementation of a bioinformatics platform for proteomics mass spectrometry. Responsibilities will include data acquisition and manipulation, data storage in a SQL relational database, and development of data processing tools. Research will be focused on the development of novel algorithms for the analysis of proteomics mass spectrometry data. Other duties could include, but are not limited to: designing and developing databases and web-based applications with novel features, collecting software specifications; designing and implementing applications to support data management and integration; streamlining existing software processes; and performing other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained.
    • Requires a minimum of 8+ years programming experience with UNIX, Windows or larger mini/mainframe oriented operating system and in software application development and research.
    • Requires extensive knowledge of and experience with various operating systems and computer languages, including C, C++, Fortran, Cobol, Small talk, and SQL.
    • Requires knowledge of scientific principles.
    • Must be capable of leading a team.
    • Excellent programming skills in C, C++ or Java are required.
    • A strong documented background in mathematics or statistics is required.

    PREFERENCES

    • Knowledge of system administration for Linux computer clusters, file servers, CVS and LDAP servers, and instrument and desktop computers is a plus.

    COMPENSATION

    Salary is commensurate with experience.
