    The following opportunity exists in our South San Francisco, CA, headquarters: Senior Computational Biologist

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Genentech is seeking a talented and highly motivated Computational iologist/Senior Computational Biologist or Bioinformatic Scientist to pursue research projects in collaboration with the Department of Molecular Diagnostics and Cancer Cell Biology.

    The candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team, will carry out data analysis and data integration across various domains and will develop novel methods for identifying diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. Publication of scientific and methodological results is encouraged. The applicant will work with cutting-edge techniques for large-scale microarray and next-generation sequencing data. Further, the successful candidate will present complex results in a clear and concise manner-to other bioinformaticians as well as to audiences without a computational or statistical background.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • This position requires a PhD in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology or similar, with a strong publication record.
    • Proficiency in a high-level language such as R or Perl is required.
    • The ideal candidate will have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to handle several concurrent, fast-paced projects.

    PREFERENCES

    • Low-level programming and relational database experience is a plus.
