BACKGROUND
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, home of three Nobel laureates, is an independent, nonprofit research institution dedicated to the development and advancement of biomedical research to eliminate cancer and other potentially fatal diseases. Recognized internationally for its pioneering work in bone-marrow transplantation, the Center’s four scientific divisions collaborate to form a unique environment for conducting basic and applied science. The Quantitative Genetic Epidemiology (QGE) group is recruiting a post-doctoral fellow to conduct research in the areas of statistical genetics, bioinformatics and translational genomic research. The research projects require utilizing new and established quantitative methods to work with data from a number of disciplines and sources, including data from genomic, proteomics, transcriptomics, and clinical follow-up studies.RESPONSIBILITIES
This group is currently seeking doctoral applicants who have dual training or interest in both computer science/statistics and molecular biology, and are interested in developing a career in bioinformatics.REQUIREMENTS
Candidates are preferably trained in quantitative disciplines (e.g., computer science, or statistics or applied mathematics) with strong interest in biomedical research, and must be willing to carry collaborative research in a team setting. Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, computational physics or computational biology is required.PREFERENCES
